Casper Moyo

Casper Moyo

Our youth group has now been sponsoring a child with World Vision for 5+ years.  His name is Casper Moyo, and he is a 12 year old boy from Zimbabwe.  Born on March 16th, 1999, Casper is smart, healthy young man who loves math and enjoys school in general.  He is quite active in school sports, loves football, and has aspirations to someday become a doctor!  Every week our youth group students donate money towards caring for Casper, and this money provides the clothing, education, and spiritual guidance that will help him grow into all that God intends him to be!

Casper lives with his family in the village of Lupane, Zimbabwe. Their house is made of three huts that are built with mud and thatched with grass. Their main food is thick porridge, called sadza. They grow millet, maize, and Gorghum. Their area has hills and mapane trees. The weather is very hot in the spring, and rainy in summer and autumn. Their area is very far from a town and hospital.

Besides providing money to help for Casper’s needs, prayer is also very important. Please pray for Casper, his family, and his town. Zimbabwe also has its own struggles as a country. Pray that Zimbabwe will get a government that will serve their nation rather than the people who are in charge. Malnutrition, threat of food shortages, and unemployment are growing rapidly, and this country is becoming a time bomb. Another problem in Zimbabwe is the AIDS problem, so pray for a radical change in attitudes and for effective government and church action to help in this area.

And also, pray for the churches in Zimbabwe, that they will be strong, that they will grow and share the Gospel with those around. Zimbabwe has freedom of religion, and 71% Zimbabweans claim to be Christian. There are many different churches in Zimbabwe, and they need to remembered in prayer to be able to unite together and not dispute among themselves.
